Hawkins Family Farm - Port Elgin ON

Hi, my name is Janet and I am the owner at Holmesmith Handmade.  The inspiration behind Holmesmith comes from the sustainable traditions and lifestyle of my mother and grandmother.  It was a time when you grew what you ate, crafted what you needed, traded and shopped with neighbours, and left a very small footprint on earth!

Natural linen and cotton goods were integral in running a busy home and meeting the demands of daily household chores.

Hard wearing linen tea towels, aprons, bread storage and table linens, were typically made locally or at home.  Naturally anti-microbial and durable, linen is ideal for use in the kitchen.

Handcrafted textile goods were also hard at work as laundry, shoe and clothing bags as well as hand and bath towels...often repurposed from flour and sugar sacks.

Linen and cotton continues to meet the challenges of daily life. Whether making them yourself or purchasing them from a small business like ours, these items inspire an earth friendly lifestyle that brings a bit of joy to daily chores and a connection to simpler times.
